A vessel is arrived at Marblehead, in New England, from Spain, with continental stores, consisting of about 2000 blankets, shoes, hose, hats, stockings, cordage, tent cloth, shirts, anchors, &c. &c. to a considerable amount; and a prize, with 12,000 bushels of salt, is carried into Boston, bound to New York from Liverpool. The letters in this prize show how completely the English ministry have deceived the people into a belief that America must be conquered this campaign, in consequence of which their merchants are speculating to a great amount.
The postmaster in Upper Marlbro' writes, of the 27th ult. 4 o'clock P. M. that Howe crossed the Schuylkill the Monday before, at Richardson's and another ford, without opposition, after having surprised and beat up General Wayne's camp.----- Burgoyne, it was said, is surrounded by General Gates, and the other generals.---.-The Postmaster in Fredericksburg writes, as last Tuesday, that people in that place are inclinable to believe the above account, of Howe's crossing the Schuylkill, &c. is without foundation, as a person was then in town, who left our army on the Tuesday following, and says he heard nothing of it.
