PRIMARY ELECTION INTEREST
CENTERS ABOUT DELEGATE

Aside from the contest in which
Delegate Dan Sutherland is opposed
by two Coast Republicans who are
seeking the delegate nomination,
the voters of Nenana are not much
aroused by the primary elections
which are in progress throughout
the Territory today. This may be
attributed to the fact that Andrew
Nerland and M. D. Snodgrass are
unopposed for the Republican nomin-
ation for the senate and very little
opposition elsewhere on the two
tickets.

Everyone in Nenana concedes that
a large majority of the votes local-
ly will be cast for Sutherland, and
no one appears to care who is nom-
inated for the other places, with the
result that very little voting is be-
ing done. Efforts are being made,
however, to induce voters to go to
the polls for the good a large vote
will do the town. Dodgers were dis-
tributed this morning, and Mike
Cooney has been out with his car
all afternoon getting out the ladies.
And as a further effort, a spieler
was engaged to remind voters of
the importance of exercising their
right of franchise.

The News has received telegrams
from nearly every newspaper in the
Territory, asking to be provided
with the Nenana returns at the
earliest possible moment, which in-
dicates that other sections of the
country are very much interested
in the delegate contest, and regard
Nenana as an important part of
the voting strength of the Territory.

The polls opened at eight o'clock
this morning and will remain open
until seven o'clock this evening. The
officers of election are Mesdames J.
H. Flower and V. H. Peirce, Miss
C. C. Heid, J. H. Flower and Al
Wigand.
