Music Students to Participate in Festival
This week the school band and the high school chorus have been putting the final polish on the numbers they will perform at Kalispell on Saturday, April 11, when they will take part in the annual Northwest District Music Festival. Both groups will perform on two programs at the Flathead County High School, one in the afternoon and one in the evening. The afternoon program begins at 1:30 p. m. and the evening program at 7:30 p. m.

Following the afternoon program Libby parade unit, composed of the band, the drill squad, and the baton twirlers, will parade through Kalispell.

One hundred and fifteen students will depart from the high school at 9 a. m., Saturday morning. The fine spirit of these students and their keen interest in musical activities is proved by the fact that they are paying most of their own expenses for meals and transportation. The loyal interest of Libby citizens in these musical groups is proved by the fact that many cars from Libby are making the trip to Kalispell to hear the local groups.

Last Monday evening 20 members of the band assisted in the army day parade, playing snappy marches and patriotic music as they rode about town on a truck at the head of the parade.

Other events to which the music department is looking forward are the activity banquet on April 15th, at which many of the school groups will perform including the band, chorus, octet, brass quartet, clarinet octet, and orchestra; the Lincoln County Music Festival in Libby on April 18; and the Commercial Club banquet on April 27 when the octet, brass quartet, and clarinet octet will perform.
