Hearing On Request For Phone Hike

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., March 23 (AP)—The Railroad and Public Utilities Commission has scheduled public hearing in Miami on April 4 on the Southern Bell Telephone Company's request to raise its rates to Florida subscribers.

The telephone company requested another hearing to present new evidence why it should be allowed to increase rates permanently to bring in approximately $4,800,000 more revenue a year.

The utilities board granted Southern Bell temporary rate increases which will net it $1,600,000 more from subscribers this year. It was about 60 per cent of what the company requested at that time.
