WITHOUT FOUNDATION.—The S. F. Call says there is no foundation for the report that many of the regular and volunteer officers have expressed a determination to throw up their commissions in the event of Denver being appointed to the command of this Department. Many of the officers think his appointment would be injurious, and would prefer some other man for their commander, but they are too good soldiers to refuse to serve under any one whom the Government may place in command. There is, as yet, no certainty that Denver will be stationed here, and if he is, all attempts to excite the soldiers and officers against him can only result in the disorganization of the forces on this coast, and inflict injury on the Union cause.
