Nothing Doing to Claim Arrest at the Polls.

The general report at police headquarters and from all the police precincts this afternoon was that everything was very quiet, and that no disturbance, or arrest, had taken place at any of the polling districts. It was universally conceded in police circles, as far as the morning was concerned, to be one of the most orderly elections ever held in New Haven.

There was a noticeable absence of drunkenness around the polling places. Reports were in circulation that some of the saloons took a chance at keeping the side door open for business.

With the big vote polled in all the wards and the large number of workers and others hanging around the polls and the party headquarters in the different wards, the remarkable quietness prevailing seemed all the more surprising. There was very little doing in most of the wards for the ticket peddlers. In the Second up to noon about every voter had his ballot safely ensconced in his vest pocket when he went to vote. And this was said to be the case in nearly all the wards.
