THE CROSS STREET PAVING.

Colonel Jocelyn reports more paving brick expected to arrive the first of next week, when work will be resumed on the cross street paving contract. So far only Elm and English streets have been completed, and Third street is ready for the brick. As soon as brick arrives the other streets will be graded and the work rushed along as rapidly as possible.

Mr. J. E. Riley, of Omaha, who is interested in the contract, is in the city looking after business matters. It is said that it is likely an effort will be made by some of the paving contractors to get some more work to do. They have an eye out for the cross streets from Douglas to First streets.

Already the first steps have been taken to pave Fourth avenue from Douglas to First, consisting of a resolution that must be four weeks old before the second step can be taken. It is believed that this will be followed by taking in some more streets.
