IMPROVEMENTS IN NORFOLK.—The spirit of building gains ground in our Borough and we are informed that at least one hundred dwellings and stores are already contracted to be built during the year—a number far exceeding all precedent, except perhaps, the year of the memorable fire of 1801. The entire square from Water up to Main Street, swept by the conflagrations of '42 and '43 (with the exception of the two lots fronting on Water Street upon which two fine, substantial brick houses were erected last year,) has been purchased by Mr. James Barry, and he is now rapidly filling it up with commodious brick tenements suited to the wants of the people of that locality.—Norfolk Herald.

The spirit of building gains ground in Norfolk Borough with at least one hundred dwellings and stores contracted to be built during the year, exceeding precedents except possibly after the 1801 fire. Mr. James Barry has purchased the entire square from Water to Main Street, previously swept by fires in 1842 and 1843 (except two lots with brick houses built last year), and is rapidly filling it with commodious brick tenements.
