HAMPTON, Va. - A summer graduating class of about 140, including 76 who will receive the B. S. degree and 64 will receive the Master's degree, will hear Dean Herbert C. Hunsaker of Cleveland, Western Reserve University at Hampton Institute's Summer Convocation Friday morning, August 18.
The candidates Sunday heard a Baccalaureate Sermon by Dr. Geo. D. Kelsey, associate executive secretary in Field Administration for the Federal Council of Churches.
Dr. Kelsey also has been minister at Hampton during July and August.
A candlelight vesper service by the senior class Sunday night, and a reception later in the week at the President's House, for graduates, relatives and friends also are among the summer graduation activities.
The Cleveland educator, a former Regional War Labor Board member, is known for his work with the blind, with adult education, the Urban League, the Cleveland Church Federation, and other civic causes.
During World War II he was for a year associate chief of the Bureau of Special Operations of the OWI, while on leave from his present deanship, which he assumed in 1941.
A native of the state of Washington and a graduate of the University there, Dean Hunsaker holds the A. M. degree from Columbia university, the LL. B. from the University of Newark, and the LL. D. degree from Parsons College.
