Full Text
A correspondent is anxious to learn how soon the directors of the mint of the United States mean to furnish the public with gold and silver coin. A considerable time has elapsed since its establishment, and nothing has emanated from it but a few cents and half cents. At present there appears a necessity for it to supersede foreign coinage, as some, if not all, of the banks in this city refuse to accommodate us with the change of a single guinea. This want of accommodation may appear trivial to persons in capital business, but by a mechanic who only now and then receives a chance guinea, it is particularly felt.
