Vermont. - The antimasonic Convention, in the 1st district of this State, have nominated for Congress, Richard Skinner, Esq. formerly Governor of the State. Mr. Skinner had been previously nominated by the National Republicans; but having declared himself a political antimason, preferring William Wirt to any other candidate for the presidency, and that his views on the subject of masonry and antimasonry coincide with those of Richard Rush, William Strong and others, the antimasons of that district nominated him, 44 to 6. This step has produced some fluttering among the National Republican masons, who threaten to abandon him and run another candidate.
