Full Text

Letters from the Mediterranean advise that there is the greatest reason to believe that the present war between Turkey and Russia will involve the former in a train of misfortunes which was little expected, as most of the Greek inhabitants, who have long groaned under the Ottoman yoke, seem inclined to assert their freedom. The people of Candia, and all the Morea, only wait for a favourable opportunity of taking arms against the Mahometans; and as great quantities of powder, ball, and warlike stores, have lately been distributed to the Montenegrins by Prince Dolgorucki, and to the several other parts of the Levant by Count Orlow, we may soon expect to hear some interesting news from that quarter of the world.
