Full Text
An EXPERIMENT.—Some curiosity was manifested this morning by the passers down Broadway, at the sight of a large pile of wooden blocks at the rear of the jail, each having six sides, about fifteen inches long, and some eight or ten inches in diameter. The use to which they are intended to be put was readily divined by those who remembered a description given some time ago in the papers, of the method of paving in Russia. We understand that the plan is to be tried on a portion of Broadway just above Murray street. The blocks are to be planted perpendicularly in the earth, fitting closely to each other of course from their shape, so as to make a level and continuous surface, their sides being coated with tar or pitch. We do not see why the plan should not be found completely successful
