CAMP MISHAWAKA BOYS HERE TODAY

Summer School Opens on Shores of Pokegama Lake- Capacity Crowd Here.

Ninety-two boys and twelve counselors, for Camp Mishawaka, arrived this noon, and were quickly taken, by bus and truck, to the camp on the shores of Pokegama lake. The boys are here to enjoy a vacation school under ideal surroundings for the next eight or ten weeks.

The boys that attend this summer school are all between the ages of ten and seventeen, and are from many places in the United States. They come from as far southwest as Dallas, Texas, and as far to the northeast as the New England states. By far the larger part, however, come from Washington, D. C.; Baltimore, Atlanta, and cities in that part of the country.

At the school the boys are under an easy discipline. Tutors are employed for those who wish to continue their studies, and lessons in swimming, canoeing and woodcraft are given. They come here pale and languid, many of them, and return home tanned and brown, and filled with energy for another school year.

The number that came today is the capacity of the cottages and tents. A number of applications that came too late were refused. Mrs. George F. Green has been here for several weeks, with a corps of helpers, getting everything in readiness for the reception of the boys. Tents were pitched, grounds cleaned up, and food supplies secured and prepared. The boys found lunch all ready for them when they reached the camp shortly after one o'clock.
