JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - (ANP) David Muller and four members of his family were charged with grand larceny after Muller found a money sack containing $21,000 and proceeded to split it among his relatives.
The money was lost through an escape hatch of an armored car which was taking it to the bank.
Muller, described as "penniless," admitted finding the sack, containing the money, $11 in small bills. He took the money to his sister, Mrs. Rachel Brown, who gave some of it to another sister, Mrs. Emma Pickney.
Muller's wife was arrested after an anonymous tipster told police that Muller had the money. Mrs. Pickney turned over a box containing $4,692 of the loot.
Police said $15,000 of the money has been recovered and that Muller his wife and two sisters are in jail, charged with larceny.
