Full Text

REPUBLICAN "MORALITY"
Republicans who remember the superb energy of their party in the days when it really had moral ideas cannot but feel amazement and discouragement at its present state. In this campaign morals appear to have been delicately abandoned in order to maintain the war tariff. In years past men were appealed to in every canvass to support the Republican ticket because the party was the party of temperance, now, it announces in cold blood that rather than sacrifice any part of the protective system it would lift all taxes from whisky. Not only morality but the party's traditions are thus defied.
