On Sunday the 2d Instant the following Accident happened at a small Village called Atherton, near Bishop's-Castle, occasioned by a great fall of Snow, which came from a Hill called Longmynd: Seven human Bodies were found Dead; two Men were found Dead in a Bed, one Woman with part of her Clothes on and her Stays in her Hand and three Men were Saved; but one Man, aged 60, lies Dangerously ill: Upwards of 20 Cattle and a Number of Poultry were Destroyed, as was also a great Quantity of Grain, Hay, &c. three Houses were thrown down and several large Trees torn up by the Roots. More than 200 Men have been digging in the Snow several Days past, to find the Dead Bodies.
