$10 FOR CONTEMPT.
Judge Chapman of Bangor Court Disciplines Lawyer Robinson.
Bangor, Me., July 20.—Lawyer John F. Robinson, a prominent member of the Penobscot bar, was fined $10 for contempt of court, this morning, by Judge Chapman of the Bangor municipal court.
Mr. Robinson appeared in court as counsel for a man charged with violating the liquor laws. Judge Chapman, after hearing the evidence, found the man guilty and imposed the usual sentence.
This aroused Lawyer Robinson's anger and standing up he proceeded to give his opinion of the court and its judge.
"That will do, Brother Robinson," said the court.
But Brother Robinson isn't in the habit of being silenced. He usually says his say regardless of who wants him to stop and in the past he never before has received a severe check. So today he kept on.
"$10 for contempt," said His Honor.
"What?" roared the lawyer, and he started on the run for the door.
"Stop that man," said the court to the officer on duty.
Deputy Sheriff Friend caught Mr. Robinson by the shoulder and marched him back to the desk.
"The fine goes," said the court.
And Mr. Robinson dug down deep into his jeans and fished out the $10 and settled.
