OHIO.

A Queer Case.

Portsmouth, August 18.-Judge H. A. Towne was nominated to-day by the Democratic County Convention for Recorder of Scioto county, on condition, that if elected, he would give bonds and let the emoluments of the office go to Mrs. Currie who has had charge of the office since the death of her son, who was elected at the last election but died shortly after. Mrs. Currie's husband and eldest son were killed in the army. She has given general satisfaction in the discharge of her official duties, and it seems to be the general desire of both parties that she shall continue to receive the benefits of an office which, though perfectly competent and able to fill, she cannot hold by law.
