Editor Glacier: If you will permit us, we would like to take this opportunity of addressing ourselves to you and our friends throughout the city and valley concerning the Home Telephone company, of Hood River.

The Home Telephone Co. is a local corporation with all the stock of $40,000 subscribed among the men of the city and valley, the directors being E. L. Smith, A. S. Blowers, Chas. Hall, C. K. Marshall and Leslie Butler, all of whom are well known among you.

It is the intention of the company to go right ahead with their plans and install a first class telephone plant with all the latest improvements in the way of apparatus, so that when completed it will be as fine a system as there is anywhere on the coast.

The poles have been ordered and all the other necessary material for the starting of the work, which will be begun in an active manner about the 23rd of this month.

We are buying everything in the town and valley that we can use in the work, and we will employ all of our labor from our own people. Any man or boy who wants to work can apply as soon as the work is started and all places will be filled with local workmen before any outside labor is appealed to.

As soon as our manager, Mr. Brownell, returns from the east, the entire valley will be 'spotted' so that we can tell where our main lines will be run, and as soon as that is done, we will have a man to see all who want phones, and you will have an opportunity to make your contract. All that we ask is that you do not allow yourself to be made a party to any telephone contract except the new Home Telephone company of Hood River.

We are home people and want to be treated as such. We expect to have our entire plant completed and in working order by December 1st.

Thanking you in advance for the loyal support, which we feel that you will all give to us, we beg to remain,

Very truly yours,

Home Telephone Co
