SIGNS.

Mr. Van Buren is pusillanimous. He refused to call Congress in pursuance of the memorial of the New York merchants: but in ten days after that refusal, got the "panic" and issued his Proclamation! He promised Jackson and Benton to "carry out" the hum bug, but is again frightened, and tells the Globe to denounce the "Experiment" as a "chimerical scheme." He is a used up man. The best thing he can do is to back out as a candidate for re-election and "slope off into retirement" as soon as his term expires.—Alb. Journal.
