Full Text

A Letter from the President of the United States, to General Jackson, of Tennessee, relative to the raising of volunteers, has been published. This letter, which was written in March, mentions that the state of things on the western side of the Mississippi did not then threaten any immediate collision with our neighbours in that quarter; but that it was prudent to be prepared to meet any movement which might occur. It states that the persons who may engage, will not be called from their homes until some aggressions, committed or intended, shall render their services necessary; and that when they are called out, it will not be for a long, but for an active and perhaps distant service.
