DINNER AND BALL,
IN HONOR OF THE "NATION'S GUEST," AT CARACAS.

The arrival of General Lafayette in the United States was celebrated at Caracas, on the 19th of October, by the Citizens of the Republic residing there--the circumstance is noticed in the Caracas Constitutional as follows:

"The citizens of the United States residing in Caracas and La Guaira, gave a Dinner and Ball on the 19th of October, at the House of Dr. Forsyth, in honor of the happy arrival of General Lafayette in that country. Twenty American citizens sat down to dinner besides the following guests:--His Excellency General Paez, General Escalona, Intendant of the Department of Venezuela, Generals Marino, Montilla, Clemente, Zaraza, Colonel Ibarra, Aid to General Bolivar, and other aids. The Honorable the Judges of the High Court and Col. Beaufort T. Watts, American Secretary of Legation to Colombia, were also present.

"The Hall was arranged and illuminated with much taste, which presented to the eye a beautiful and interesting spectacle.

"The Declaration of the Independence of North America, and the Portraits of Jefferson, Adams, Madison, and Monroe, were placed at one end of the room over the President's (Dr. Forsyth) chair, encircled by the national colors of the United States and Colombia.

"At the other end, over the Vice President's (Mr. E. W. Robinson) were suspended an excellent likeness of Gen. Washington and one of Bolivar, between which was placed a likeness of the Hon. Henry Clay, the advocate and defender of the Independence of South America.

"A palm tree was placed in the centre of the table, crowned with the Cap of Liberty, and between the green foliage of which the names of LAFAYETTE, WASHINGTON and BOLIVAR were transparently exhibited.

"The utmost cordiality and harmony reigned throughout the entertainment, and the company vied with each other in their expressions of gratitude and honour to General Lafayette, and also to the citizens of the United States, and the distinguished guests of Colombia.

"The toasts were well received, and interspersed with vocal and instrumental music.

"The dinner party broke up at 10 o'clock, when the gentlemen joined the ladies who honoured the occasion by their presence.

"On opening the doors of the Hall, a most beautiful and interesting sight was presented to the beholders--the American Eagle in a transparency. A full view of this favorite emblem was seen from the portico of the Hall, and also from the Court, which was brilliantly illuminated.

Above the eagle was displayed in large letters the name of "Lafayette," and underneath, "The Friend of Washington and Guest of our Nation."
