We are still unable to determine what will be the condition of Spain, and what opposition will be made to the new Constitution under Joseph the brother of the French Emperor. According to a late account, Joseph had taken the oath administered by the Arch Bishop of Burgos. The revenue of this Arch Bishop is immense, and his residence is the capital of Old Castile. The Supreme royal council is of Castile, and is the highest court of judicature, and the first name in the title of the king of Spain, is King of Castile. The revenue of the Arch Bishop is given at 40,000 ducats, about equal to as many of our dollars. After this ceremony, on 9th July, Joseph had left Bayonne for his capital, Madrid and no information had been given of any impediment on his journey. As the whole distance was not four hundred miles, he probably reached the capital in 10 days, according to the usual rate of travel in that country. With this information, we hear of additional French troops which are pouring into Spain.
