POLITICAL TALK

Talk That is Interesting the Politicians.

The primaries will all be called in a couple of weeks.

The Republican Primaries should be called not later than next week,

Of the four retiring Councilmen this spring, two are candidates for re-election.

The Republicans should be careful to nominate good men for the position of Assessor.

The Republican tickets in each of the four wards should receive handsome majorities.

John L. Hubbs is talked of now as a Republican candidate for Council in the Fourth ward,

Bridgeton politicians are more than pleased with the course of their representatives in Trenton,

Richard Morris has been mentioned by First ward Republicans as a good candidate for Assessor.

Some of the Bridgeton boys are wearing Warwick badges that they received in Philadelphia.

The new voters should bear in mind that there will be but one day for registration this spring.

& Down in the Second ward there will be an interesting scrap in the Republican primary for Assessor.

Millville is sure of a Republican Mayor, and it seems to look more and more like George W. Payne.

Bridgeton is always fortunate in having a business Council, and the Republicans will choose good men,

The Republican Union League rooms are open every day and night in the week, Sundays excepted,

The Third ward politicians are resting easy. There does not seem to be much contention over there.

Over in the Third ward the Republicans say that Councilman Elmer will be renominated by acclamation.

The First ward people are more than pleased with the name of William McCloy as a Councilmanic candidate.

As yet there is no intimation given as to who will be the Republican nominees for Council in the Fourth ward.

Some of the Democrats in the Third ward would like to induce Samuel Iredell to be a Councilmanic candidate,

It is said that Enos E. Glaspell can have the Republican nomination for Freeholder, to succeed Wm. J. Moore.

Frank J. Lore is making an active campaign for the Republican nomination for Constable in the Third ward.

It seems to be stated among the First ward Democrats to give C. Howard Laning the nomination for Council.

It is conceded that J. D. Johnson can have the Democratic nomination for Council in the Second ward, if he wants it.

Councilman Sooy and Benj. Errickson are the two candidates for the Republican nomination for Council in the Second ward,

Many of the politicians are looking forward to the time when Bridgeton will be under the government of cities of the second class.

It seems pretty certain that the Fourth ward Democrats will nominate Charles H. Pierson to succeed J. A. Woodruff in Council,

The representation for the Republican City Convention this Spring, will be the same as that for the County Convention in the fall.

Councilman Merritt L. Sooy's many friends say that he has made a good Councilman, and should be accorded the usual courtesy of another term.

Andrew Zane, Daniel Gentry and Powell Johnson are candidates for Assessor in the Second ward. All are hustling for the majority of votes in the primary.

From present appearances it looks as if William McCloy would be the Republican candidate for Council in the First ward. He would make an ideal candidate.

Nicholas Scull is before the people of the Fourth ward asking for the nomination for Freeholder on the Republican ticket. He will have the advantage of having a good record.

Freeholder Wm. J. Moore has announced that he will not be a candidate for Freeholder in the First ward.

He says he has had the position five years, and somebody else is entitled to it.

Local Republicans are much pleased with the action of Cumberland's representatives in the Legislature urging the appointment of Col. Wm. E. Potter for the Supreme Court bench.

Now that Cumberland is likely to elect a Judge under the provisions of the new Judiciary bill, there is no doubt but that James H. Nixon, Esq., will be the man. He would receive a handsome majority.
