POPULAR BUT UNPROVEN REPORT VILLA ON WAY TO THE BORDER

Juarez, April 8.—Villa is moving rapidly toward the American border with three thousand men, General Murguía announced today before leaving for Casas Grandes with four thousand Carranza troops.

Report Doubted.

Washington, April 8.—Reports from General Pershing that border conditions are satisfactory led the war department to doubt reports that Villa is moving northward with any large forces. General Pershing also said there were no signs of German intrigues.
