Extract of a letter to the Editor of the True American, from his correspondent at New-York.
"The following is from my correspondent at Salem, dated May 6th at noon—About an hour since we heard the news of a declaration of war by England against France. A Newbury port vessel from the West Indies spoke four days since the British Packet, bound to New-York, the captain of which said war was actually declared before he left England, (the 12th of April) and that seventy sail of the line were in commission,"
