We learn from Washington, (says the Franklin Gazette) that John M'Lean, esq. of Ohio, formerly a member of congress, and at present commissioner of the general land office, has been appointed by the president to the office of postmaster general of the United States, vice Return J. Meigs, esq. resigned; and that George Graham, esq. president of the United States' Branch Bank at Washington, is to succeed judge M'Lean as commissioner of the general land office. These judicious appointments, which cannot fail to give general satisfaction to the country, took effect on the 1st inst.
