The League of Women Voters of Toledo is bringing Miss Anna Lord Strauss, nationally prominent editor, administrator, and public spirited citizen to Toledo on Saturday, Feb. 20.
She will speak at a luncheon meeting at 12:15 p.m. at the Toledo Club on "The American Role in the Far Eastern Revolution."
Miss Strauss, who was national president of the League of Women Voters from 1944 to 1950, will be speaking from her experiences on a recent trip through Burma, Malaya, Indonesia, Japan, and the Philippines where she was sent for the Department of State Educational Exchange Program. On this tour she was able to observe at first hand the effectiveness of the Technical Assistance Program.
In 1951 Miss Strauss was a member of the U.S. delegation to the UN General Assembly which met in Paris. In January 1951, she was appointed executive vice chairman of the President's Commission on Internal Security and Individual Rights.
Since her retirement from the League presidency she has also been named as a director of the Fund for Adult Education of the Ford Foundation, a trustee of the Woodrow Wilson Foundation and a member of the Committee on Selection of the Rockefeller Public Service Awards.
Miss Strauss will also speak at a meeting of the Toledo United Nations Association on Sunday, Feb. 21, at 3:00 p.m. at the First Unitarian Church. Both meetings are open to the public.
