The Federalists of Massachusetts will recollect that on Monday, April 7, they will assemble in their respective towns to give in their votes for a Chief Magistrate. This duty is at all times an important one, and peculiarly so at the present period-for the opposers of our present able and upright Governor are making their utmost efforts in every section and corner of the state to prevent his re-election. Gov. Brooks has administered the government of the state, the year past, with ability, integrity and mildness. It is by placing such men as Gen. Brooks in office that our Republic is to be perpetuated, and the blessings of civil and religious liberty be preserved. The opposers of Gov. Brooks are unable to point out a single instance of improper conduct, whilst in or out of office. During the past year, if democratic praise could add anything to his reputation, the most respectable democratic papers in the union have pronounced his principles and policy, detailed in his communications to the legislature, to be purely American. On the score of revolutionary services during the war for freedom and independence, he is second to no one living. He is free from party violence and a persecuting and malignant spirit. His principles and disposition are of the same stamp as his great friend, benefactor and associate, Gen. Washington. Such is Gen Brooks, and such is the man, fellow-citizens, you are called upon by every consideration of your own and your country's welfare, to re-elect as your Chief Magistrate for the ensuing year. Let every one that wishes well to Massachusetts attend the meeting and support the re-election of His Excellency JOHN BROOKS. and the other candidates named in the federal ticket.
