Event Details
Capt. Thomas Hatton, late of Sloop St. Andrew, captured on passage to Newfoundland by privateer St. Margaret of Louisbourg on 26th September. Privateer also took and ransomed sloop from Malagash bound to Halifax. Captains Condy, Hamilton, Swasey sailed with prisoners taken by French and Indians near Lake George. Highland Regiment sailed to New-York under 20-gun ship convoy from England. Admiral Holbourne at Halifax with nine capital ships and smaller ones. French fleet at Cape Breton: 17 ships of the line, frigates, sickly, short provisions, 16 privateers. French at Canada in great distress from scarcity of provisions.
