Full Text

Several accidents, we are sorry to say, have occurred in the District of Columbia, through the use of bad fowling pieces: no less than four persons, within the last week, having been maimed by the barrels of their fowling pieces bursting. The venders of such articles, we think, ought to be made responsible for accidents happening to the public from their imperfect state, if sufficiently proved they were not overloaded at the time. The most secure way would be, to have them proved with a double charge, before incautiously using them. This would give satisfaction to both parties.—City Gazette.
