Disgraced.—For any man who is opposed to this war to get a substitute we think not disgraceful, if he can get one who cheerfully goes for good pay; but it is most disgraceful for any man to get a substitute, when he was and still is himself in favor of the war. Such men, we say, deserve the contempt of all mankind.—They have yelled for war, they are persecuted for war, and they have voted for war, yet when they themselves have called upon to go ahead meanly sneak out of it by hiring a substitute for a few hundred dollars. These men will be mean enough to vote for a continuation of the war as long as they can get substitutes in their places for the paltry sum of a few hundred dollars. We want the people to know these men. We hope our friends in the several townships will keep us posted up.—Selinsgrove Times.
