The New Hampshire Election. The result of the New Hampshire election will be hailed with joy over the whole country. The granite Democracy, with the eyes of their brethren of every quarter upon them, have not disappointed public expectation.

They have acquitted themselves like men, and made their victory complete. No element is wanting. The candidates they have elected are staunch democrats, able politicians, and high-minded men, who will rejoice to give a hearty support to the new administration. Hence, when did the democratic sons of New Hampshire stand before the country with a bolder, sterner, more patriotic front? At home they have a democratic executive and legislature; in Congress they have an entire democratic delegation; at the head of the nation their favorite son is receiving the plaudits of the patriotism of the whole Union—for even the candid whigs cannot help responding to its noble republicanism—for the best inaugural address there has been since the days of Jefferson and Jackson.

In the next Congress New Hampshire will occupy an influential position. Her senators are strong men. Messrs. Norris and Atherton have both the will and the ability to render essential aid to the administration. They are democrats who have been tried in crises and not been found wanting, while the confidential relations they will sustain to the President will render their position uncommonly important. In the House, Messrs. Hibbard, Morrison, and Kittredge present an array of thorough education, unquestioned talents, and experienced service such as New Hampshire seldom furnishes. It was to round off their work by placing such men to the support of Franklin Pierce, that they have given their first demonstration of the manner in which they are determined to sustain the new administration.

For this result, the vigilant, patriotic, and consistent democracy of New Hampshire deserve the thanks of their friends throughout the Union. It is in the highest degree honorable to them. It is of good omen. It is the first election under the new democratic administration. All praise, then, to the granite democrats for the manner in which they have discharged their political duties.
