River and Harbor Bill

Washington, April 3--The river and harbor appropriation bill for the coming year was today reported to the house by Mr. Hooker, rep., New York, chairman of the river and harbor committee the following:

Oakland harbor, California, $100,000.
San Diego, Cal., $40,000.
San Luis Obispo, Cal., $32,000
Wilmington Harbor, Cal., $50,000.
Entrance and harbor at Coos Bay, Ore., $95,000.
Yaquina bay, Ore., $25,000.
Coos Bay, Ore, to complete dredging $14,390.
Port Oxford harbor, Graveyard Point, Ore., to cost not to exceed $203,336.
Tillamook bay and harbor, Ore., $17,000.
Gray's harbor and bar entrance, Wash., $10,000.
Olympia harbor, Wash., $32,000
Everett harbor, Wash., $20,000
The secretary of war is authorized and directed to appoint a board of three engineers of the United States army for the purpose of making surveys and examinations of the Sacramento and Feather rivers in California, and submit the most feasible plan for their improvement and the maintenance of navigation: the board may, under the directions of the secretary of war, expend any balance now remaining to the credit of said rivers in their improvement after deducting expenses of surveys and examinations.

For the construction of restraining barriers for the protection of the Sacramento and Feather rivers in California $250,000: San Joaquin river, $20,000: Napa river $40,000.

Oregon--Upper Columbia river, including Snake river as far up as Asotin, Ore., and Washington, $5,000: lower Willamette river, in front of and below Portland, Ore., and Columbia river, below the Willamette river, in Oregon and Washington, $50,000: Coquille river $20,000; Siuslaw river, $27,000: for gauging the waters of the Columbia river, measuring tidal and river volumes, $1,000: Upper Coquille river, between Coquille City and Myrtle Point, $12,000: Umpqua river, $6,000; Coos river, $5,000 Nestucca river, $6,000: Willamette and Yamhill rivers, $20,000: Columbia river below Tongue Point, by way of South channel in front of Astoria, $50,000
