MR. GUERRY'S FLAG IS UP.

He Will Become Candidate of the Prohibitionists if the Conditions Are Favorable.

Macon, Ga., March 23.—Dupont Guerry said to-night, when asked about the article in the Atlanta Journal saying he had practically consented to run for Governor and had been induced by prohibitionists to do so:

"I am in most hearty and determined accord with those of my fellow-citizens who are not content with present political condition in Georgia, and hope in our next primary to be active among those who are determined to submit to them no longer.

"I have never been a candidate for any office on my own motion and have never troubled others or been troubled myself with official aspirations, but there are at least possible conditions upon which I would become a candidate for the nomination for the office of Governor at the instance of others, and should these conditions arise, I will very promptly and frankly announce my determination and my platform and make the most vigorous campaign of which I am capable. But the time has not arrived and may never arrive."

There was no conference here on the subject to-day so far as anybody can learn.
