The Frankfort Roundabout

Owing to the accident to the diver at work upon the pipe in the river nothing could be done for several days the first of the week, but another diver arrived from Cincinnati on Wednesday, when work was resumed and will be pushed forward as rapidly as possible.

Saturday morning while workmen were engaged in making preparations to raise and repair the broken water main in the bottom of the river, the diver, Mr. McGuffin, came near losing his life. After he had gotten down into the water the gum tube which conveys the air to him from the air pump, got out of order and stopped supplying him with air. After he had been in the water about four minutes it was discovered there was no air in the tube and he was immediately drawn up and found to be in an unconscious condition, with blood gushing from his nose and ears. With difficulty he was restored to consciousness, and has since been confined to bed, but is slowly improving.
