"Glorious triumph of Peace Makers" is ringing through the tory papers. And what is this triumph? Why no more nor less than this--The republicans of Hillsborough county, notified a meeting to be held at Amherst, as preparatory to a general meeting of delegates from the several towns in the county. The friends of peace--secretly ordered out their forces en masse--and when a respectable number of republicans met at the time and place appointed, the house was filled with these enemies!--though we do not learn that they had fortified it. The republicans, not wishing to disturb the "harmony of their social intercourse," retired to a neighboring house, transacted the business on which they had met, and dissolved the meeting. A general Convention of the republicans of that county is notified to be holden at Weare, on the third Tuesday of September inst--and each town is requested to send five delegates to represent their sentiments in said Convention.
