The Little League of Newington held its annual banquet on Oct. 12 at the Polish American Club on Wilson Avenue.
The top team of the year was the C. of C. club managed by Joe Majesky and coached by Ed Churchill.
Trophies were awarded to the boys of the winning team by Pres. Merton Beebe.
Baseballs for individual players were drawn according to uniform numbers.
The winners were: C. of C., Alan Hartling Joe Mascola; Caval, Tom Verraneau Ray Hall; Lions, Steve Toce & Norm Davidson; Kiwanis, Howard Pearl & Mike Twohig; VFW J. Appruzesa & D. Malarney; PAC, John King & Bruce Gauyna. The awards were given out following a chicken dinner donated and catered by John Borawski.
In addition to these special awards, all the boys were given an autographed Mickey Mantle pencil set.
The evening was topped off with movies of the 1960 Little League World Series and of the 1959 regular World Series.
Guests for the evening included Mr. Art Steinberg, Alling Rubber Co., Clem Lemire, Parks and Recreation Comm., and Star Kelly, District Representative.
Also present to represent the Little League Woman's Auxiliary were: Mrs. R. Prentice, Mrs. E. Haines, and Mrs. P. McGuire.
