Event Details
Congress will meet again in three weeks, and the session will only hold until the fourth of March following. A good deal of important business went over from the last session, which ought to be attended to early at this session. We suppose, as a matter of course, that there will be some kind of a Slavery agitation.—perhaps an effort to repeal the Fugitive Slave Bill. We trust, however, for the character of the nation that no further turmoil will be created, and that the members will go industriously to work without delay, and dispose of the public business which they are sent there to transact. The people are tired of long windy speeches, which amount to nothing, and they desire to have their Senators and Representatives faithfully perform the duties which are incumbent upon them.
