Full Text

Postmaster Kittredge Haskins stated this morning that it is probable that no further move will be made at present toward the erection of a federal building in Brattleboro. The plans recently submitted to Postmaster Haskins for the proposed building provided for a one-story structure and no provision was made for a United States court room and other offices for federal court officers. Mr. Haskins talked over the matter with several interested persons in Brattleboro and it was agreed that the treasury department, which has charge of the construction of all public buildings, should be asked to hold the Brattleboro public building matter in abeyance until congress can make a further appropriation. "There is available $65,000, but this amount will barely provide quarters and equipment for the postoffice."
