The Newburg Accident—One Killed.

James Evans, of Petersburg, this morning was on the train which it is thought the express overtook and killed instantly.

The mails were thrown from Newburg to Beaverville, W. Va., and were interred on Tuesday evening. The deceased was about thirty years old and leaves five children to mourn their death.

Mr. Jenkins was on the last car of a forward train, caught between the cars and so badly that he lived only short three hours. He died at Newburg and his remains were immediately taken to Piedmont, where they were enclosed in a handsome metallic coffin and accompanied by members of the Masonic lodge to his home at Baltimore. We do not know his age and believe he was unmarried.

At the time the Express struck the way train there was no less than eighteen persons in the hindmost car, and although the car was forced forward and jammed against the train until it was badly smashed, and the splinters and broken timbers fell around them profusely, not a single passenger was injured. Their escape seems almost miraculous.—Grafton Sentinel.
