Full Text

Lord Brougham, it is stated in the Louisville Journal, is engaged in correcting the proof sheets of a very extensive work on the French revolution, at his villa, near Cannes—to be published in London in the present February.

The work will undoubtedly be instructive and interesting. Every few months gives birth to some new work on this momentous subject.

We have no doubt that a foreigner can treat the subject more impartially than a Frenchman. Every inhabitant of France has feelings associated with the revolution which incapacitate him from doing it entire justice. The French writers on the subject naturally are partisans, whereas a foreigner can view it in the light of truth. We look forward to Lord Brougham's work with great hope. It will be very able, and we trust it will also be just to all the good and bad men who flourished during that most interesting period.
