Splendid Entertainment and Reception at the New York R. R. Y. M. C. A. Last Evening.
Quite a large number of local railroad men in response to an invitation issued by the superintendent, attended the entertainment and reception tendered there by the Railroad Y. M. C. A. of New York city last evening. It was held in the building of the association at 361 Madison avenue, a magnificent structure, perfect in appointments and all. This was the gift of Cornelius Vanderbilt, the New York millionaire, and head of the New York Central railroad, and more resembles the private club of the aristocrats of a big city, than this every-day convenience of the railroad men. His gift has been appreciated though, and of it might be said that it gave a powerful stimulus to the Y. M. C. A. work in connection with railroads, which is now being carried on throughout the length and breadth of the United States, and with such beneficial results to the corporations themselves.
The entertainment last evening was an enjoyable one, special talent having been engaged for the occasion, while the American biograph presented some truly wonderful views. Following the entertainment came a social reception, which showed the good feeling existing between all railroad men. The entertainment complete was as follows:
Piano solo—
a. "Gibson Girl Waltzes."
b. "Miss America," Two-Step.
by the composer, J. E. Barnum.
Part I—American Biograph.
Song—"Catrine"—Miss Estelle Richardson.
Selections—Harlem River Mandolin and Guitar club.
The Old Hoosier and His Fiddle—Warren Richards, humorist.
Song—P. F. Dueker.
Part II—American Biograph.
Fun at the Grand Central Station—
Warren Richards.
Guitar selections—Edward Este.
Part III—American Biograph.
Selections—Harlem River Mandolin and Guitar club.
