Full Text
On Sunday an attempt was made to get the car out of the river, as it had not gone very far, but something snapped when they started to pull it in with a rope and the machine got into the current and away it went towards Utah. The on-lookers say that it was badly smashed up bounding on the rock bars before it disappeared from view a hundred or so rods below. Not much hope is entertained for its recovery.
The cause of the accident is said to have been a small rock in the road striking one of the front wheels deflecting the car to the river, but the general belief is that the driver strained the speed limit beyond good judgment.
