Pistol Practice.

Rock Island, Ill., June 2.- Friday J. E. Bailey and J. A. Hill were standing with their wives in a crowd in the Court House Square during decoration exercises. Without a word of warning Hill drew a small calibre pistol and shot Bailey three times. Two bullets struck his right arm and one the small of the back. Hill was promptly arrested. There was great excitement. Mr. Bailey says he can not account for the shooting as he and Mr. Hill were good friends. Hill claims that improper relations existed between his wife and Bailey. He says he meant to kill Bailey the first time they met but did not expect to see him in the court house yard.

Bailey denies the charge.
