Full Text

On the 25th of last month, four aeronauts, one of them le Marquis de Cubieres set out from the neighbourhood of Paris, with a resolution to make their excursion as long as possible, but on account of the violence of the weather, they were obliged to descend at the foot of the mountain Belle Vice Cabot, twelve miles distant. By their address in managing the balloon, they kept it within 70 degrees near 5 1/4 points of the wind, which is as near as large Dutch vessels commonly lie to it. This, say the admirers of aerostation, is a convincing proof that the invention is not a mere matter of idle curiosity, but that it may by experience and genius be rendered of the greatest utility.
