Another Canal. A meeting of the citizens of Montgomery and Herkimer counties was held at Oppenheim N. Y. on the 8th inst. to take into consideration the subject of a memorial, lately presented to the legislature, praying for the construction of a canal on the north side of the Mohawk, parallel with the eastern section of the Erie Canal: It was resolved by the meeting that the Erie canal will be sufficient to accommodate the great and increasing number of boats which will navigate it during the ensuing and subsequent years; and that the construction of a canal on the north side of the Mohawk, is the most judicious and proper measure that can be adopted by the state.
