Michael got on the trail and found that his sheep had been penned up at the "Sixteen-mile Stand" on the Reading Road, but that subsequently the thieves had taken them away.
Michael came to town and detailed Detectives Ampthauer and Kushman to assist him. The officers arrested a man on Walnut Hills answering the description of one of the thieves.
The man confessed to having stolen the sheep and having sold twelve of them to a butcher on Vine street, above the canal. The remainder were still at Sixteen-mile Stand.
Shortly after, the man's accomplice walked into town and was also arrested. They gave their names as John Jeffries and Wm. Huffer.
The detectives took them on the 2 o'clock train to Hamilton, where they will be tried.
