Here is the disunionists' alternative: 36° 30' or fight! Now, while the people have long been impressed with the opinion that there has been fighting enough of late; still, as all the fighting has grown out of a desire to extend the borders of slavery, it may be our fate to have a brush to keep the institution where it is. It is for the disunionists to say. The probability is, however, that in a war with gentlemen of the Southern Press stripe, there will be more demand for hemp than bullets.—Alb. Ev. Journal.
We have no doubt that the editor of the Evening Journal is better fitted for a hangman than a soldier. But we dont think he would have the courage even for the performance of his favorite functions. "In case of a brush" we have no doubt he would be more careful to keep himself where he is, than slavery where it is.
